Bloomberg Senior Engineer: Decode String screen, Stock Exchange design and Meeting Rooms II

Initially I had a recruiter screen which was chill. They just asked about my motivations for joining and why I was leaving my current company. I also had a gap in my resume which they asked about so if you have one of them make sure to have something prepared.

The first round was a coding screen interview. I was given the Decode String LeetCode question. It's an easy question but they expect you to be able to explain it line by line. I think they like to know you really understand everything you are doing.

The next round was a virtual onsite interview of three back to back interviews. The first was a system design, Stock Exchange, which was capable of real time matching of client orders. Definitely prepare this, I don't know how anyone could possibly come up with this on the spot unless they had directly worked on one before. The next was another coding question which was Meeting Rooms II which requires a two pointer style solution. The last round was a behavioral interview where the hiring manager asked me about times I had taken ownership for previous projects and compensation expectations.

Overall it was a pretty intense interview process and I was happy to get the offer but I decided to take another offer because they offered more and Bloomberg weren't willing to match them.
