Adyen Staff Engineer: payments system design and the Adyen Formula

The first round was a recruiter call which was very standard. They just want to understand why you are applying to Adyen.

The next round was a HackerRank question that was pretty tough. I managed to get it in the end. If you know Design Hit Counter then you will be fine but otherwise it can be tough.

The next round was a system design and it was to design a payments system. They say not having prior knowledge about payments is fine but I don't know how you could pass this round without having studied this question so definitely practice it first!

The next was another behavioural culture interview. They ask about the Adyen Formula so definitely know this going into it. I remember they asked me:

Describe a time I disagreed with a manager, what I did, and what was the end result.

The final round was a Leadership cultural interview with the CTO which was pretty cool and we again spoke about the Adyen Formula and previous projects I had worked on.

I got the offer and it makes sense why they put so much emphasis on the cultural interviews. It's a pretty great place to work and everyone I have worked with so far has been very nice.
