Wise Senior Engineer: Merge Intervals OA, circuit breaker pairing and a payment gateway with distributed transactions

The entire interview process took me 2 months but you could get it done quicker if you wanted. I purposely spaced out the interviews to give me as much time as possible to prepare for each round. The process had 4 rounds:

1. OA round was a pretty straightforward question, Merge Intervals, which I had prepped so luckily no surprises here.

2. Pair programming round where I was matched with an engineer working at the company to implement a circuit breaker. It was tough but the interviewer was cool and helped chip in at times when I got stuck.

3. System design round where they asked me to implement a payment gateway and they went deep on distributed transactions so knowing concepts like the transactional outbox pattern was super useful. No way I would have passed this if I hadn't prepped first as my previous company had nothing to do with payments.

4. Hiring manager round was behavioral focused to see how I would fit into their team. It was very conversational and they were very product focused, asking about times I achieved a measurable impact on the product and delivered value to the end customer.

It took about 4 days for the offer to come through after the final interview which I accepted. I recommend applying if you're interested. The people are super nice and the perks are great!
