Google Software Engineer in New York: OA, two LC rounds with Googlyness, then team matching to an offer
I applied through a recruiter who had reached out on LinkedIn. I interviewed at Google (New York).
Total process was 3 rounds. The first round was an online assessment, then 2 tech interviews. Both tech rounds had 2 LC questions and the second had some behavioral questions at the end. They asked "Why Google", as well as some Googlyness questions around conflict like when I had worked with a difficult team member and how I resolved it. I just grinded STAR questions from the behavioral playbook here and had a lot of answers to these pre prepared and learned off.
I remember I was asked Kth Largest Element in a Stream, a Monotonic Stack question and one question involving graphs which required dynamic programming to solve it.
I was waiting on the team matching for a while but had 2 team matching interviews in March, then received and accepted an offer. The team matching interviews were mainly speaking to potential managers to see if I was a good match for their team and product. They asked some more behavioral/Googlyness type questions. I remember they asked me for one of the biggest accomplishments of my career, and how I handled facing ambiguity in a project I had worked on in the past.
