GitHub Mid-level Engineer: recruiter call, Battleship LLD and a Number of Islands style question
The overall interview process was straightforward and took 6 weeks from start to finish.
Recruiter call
It was a pretty chill conversation about my resume and they actually asked about my GitHub profile as well which I thought was funny. Luckily I have a lot of activity on my public profile so I had lots of projects to talk about.
Virtual Onsite
This round consisted of two technical interviews and one cultural one.
The first technical one was a LLD Battleship game which was tough and I found I was tight for time but I had been practicing a lot of LLD questions leading up to the interview so I was just able to get all the methods implemented. I also recommend doing it in Python so you don't have to type as much code as typed languages like Java.
The next was a LeetCode question similar to Number of Islands which I had already practiced so I got it and the time and space complexity explanations done pretty quickly.
The behavioral one was pretty straightforward asking me about how I felt about working remotely and if I had done it before. They also asked about my career goals so definitely worth thinking about that before.

the python tip for LLD rounds is underrated, so much less typing than java under time pressure
