ServiceNow Senior Frontend Engineer: coding, JavaScript and an offer
A recruiter reached out on LinkedIn, and I decided to apply for a frontend position based in San Diego.
All interviews were scheduled to last 45 minutes and took place on Zoom, but some ran longer.
Each round started with a discussion about my past experience, using the STAR method to discuss projects I had worked on, followed by technical questions.
The first round featured the DSA question Valid Parentheses, which required me to determine whether all the parentheses were matched correctly. They also asked me to explain the time and space complexity.
In the second interview, they asked me to implement an LRU Cache. For some reason, they insisted that I use a doubly linked list approach, even though there is an ordered hash map approach that uses less memory.
The third interview focused on frontend development. They asked about JavaScript variable scoping and shadowing, flattening an array, centering nested divs, and implementing a throttling function.
The final round was with the hiring manager, who asked about my previous experience, the projects I had worked on and how I had contributed.
The compensation was in line with my expectations: a $160k base salary, a $20k target bonus and $80k in RSUs over four years. I accepted the offer.
